Joint Entrance Examination (Main)
The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) comprises two papers. The Paper1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded recognized by participating State Governments, as well as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.
a) Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only. b) Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in pen & paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.
b) MCQ for which the answer is a numerical value, with equal weightage to Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions 20. Each for PCM (MCQs) and Section B will contain 10 for PCM Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B
c) Paper 2A ( Acr.) and 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II) all CBT mode but 2A Part 3 will be Questions to test drawing aptitude, Pen & Paper Based” (offline) mode to be attempted on Drawing sheet. And 2B Planning Based Questions (Part-III) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. 30 Questions each PCM with 4 Marks for correct -1 for Incorrect and No marks for unattempted answer.
d) Merit Determination: Conversion of the raw score in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Total into NTA scores. Overall merit shall be prepared by merging NTA scores of all shifts of all days
Age Limit
For appearing in the JEE (Main) 2021, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12 / equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or appearing in 2023 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) 2023 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfil the age criteria of the Institute(s) in which they are desirous of taking admission.
State code of eligibility means the code of the State from where the candidate has passed Class XII (or equivalent) qualifying examination by virtue of which the candidate becomes eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2021. It is important to note that the State code of eligibility does NOT depend upon the native place or the place of residence of the candidate. For example, if a candidate appears for the Class XII examination in New Delhi and is a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the candidate’s State code of eligibility will be that of Delhi and NOT that of Uttar Pradesh. JEE Advanced 2021 Exam Pattern and Qualifying criteria: As per the JEE Advanced 2021 exam pattern, the exam will be conducted as a computer-based exam with two compulsory papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both the papers will be of 3 hours each. JEE Advanced 2021 question paper will have multiple-choice questions with a single answer; questions with multiple answers, numerical value questions along with matching type questions. JEE Advanced 2021 marking scheme has the concept of full, partial and zero marks. The Education Minister has declared a waiver of minimum 75% marks in class 12 from JEE Advanced 2021 eligibility criteria. Various factors such as a qualifying exam, marks required and more has to be met by the candidates for admissions into IITs through JEE Advanced. If the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced is not met, then the candidates will be disqualified. It is to be noted that only JEE Main qualified candidates will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2021.
